Frodo and Sam's first several days after leaving the Fellowship were rather uneventful. They made very slow progress through the confusing Emyn Muil hills. Indeed, several days in both Frodo and Sam were rather discouraged. They could see in the distance a small flickering flame that marked their destination. One that Frodo felt certain his fate would lead him to though he did not know what will (good or evil) would lead him there. "'Mordor!' he muttered under his breath. 'If I must go there I wish I could come there quickly and make an end!'" (p. 210, The Two Towers).
